Tanking for showers, wet rooms and bath surrounds, specified with the floor build-up and tile choice. We set the waterproofing scope from the Lymington showroom before boards are covered.
Shower enclosures and wet zones are treated as full-height tanking areas, with overlaps at corners and pipe penetrations. Bath surrounds typically tank to at least 300 mm above the spill line. Floor membranes tie into waste outlets with sealed collars. Tanking extents are documented before boards are covered so trades know where fixings are permitted.
Floor build-ups stack falls, boards, membranes and tile adhesives. Each layer affects the door threshold. Decoupling mats help where timber floors move seasonally. Tile backer boards replace plaster in direct wet areas. Waterproofing is completed before finishes are applied.
Agree the tanking scope early so the floor build-up and tile layout are not reworked later.
