LVT suits wet and high-traffic rooms. Engineered wood gives a real timber wear layer in living spaces and bedrooms. Compare both against your subfloor and heating before you decide.
We specify LVT where water, grit or heavy traffic is the main risk: kitchens, bathrooms, halls and similar rooms. Amtico, Karndean and Moduleo are the LVT ranges on the showroom floor. Engineered wood is the usual specification where you want a real timber wear layer in living rooms and bedrooms, provided moisture is controlled. Ted Todd covers plank and herringbone formats. Both can work with underfloor heating when the product is rated for it. Both need a reasonably flat subfloor and planned transitions at doorways. If the room is a wet room or has a drain, look at LVT or porcelain from the tiles department rather than timber.

This is how we usually match the two surfaces to rooms in Lymington, the New Forest, Hampshire and Dorset. The product on the floor still has to be rated for heating, moisture and the subfloor you have.
| Use | LVT | Engineered wood |
