Updating a room in stages
You do not need to replace everything at once. Updating large surfaces first, then furniture and lighting, keeps cost and disruption under control.
Change the largest surfaces first
Flooring and window treatments set the colour and scale of the room. Get those right and existing furniture often looks more intentional. Paint can wait until new fabrics and floors are chosen so you are not matching materials to an old wall colour by accident.
If budget is tight, start with one dominant change: a new carpet, a made-to-measure blind, or replacement curtains. Add cushions, a rug or a lamp once the main surface is decided.
Showroom versus online
Flooring, curtains, blinds, tiles and carpets are ordered through the Lymington showroom so you can sample and arrange measuring or fitting. Selected furniture and accessories can be ordered for UK delivery through the online shop when you already know the size and finish you need.
- Keep paint samples until flooring and fabric choices are fixed.
- Photograph the room in daylight before you visit.
- Note doorway widths if you are ordering larger furniture online.
When several rooms need coordinating
If you are updating more than one room, or need fitted furniture layouts, interior design support from our team can scope materials and order sequence before purchasing begins. Book via the design services page or contact the showroom.
